What I Learned from My Kid’s Soccer Team

Just last week I learned some lessons that all of us can take to heart and use to be more deliberate in our everyday actions.

My son was playing defense on his U-10 soccer team. They are a good team, and they all understand the responsibilities that they have. He has played defense for this year and until this year, I must say that I never understood the value of a good defender.

Then came a change. They were behind in the match 1-0 and they needed a spark. My son was moved to center-halfback to spark the team to move faster. He did his job, they moved much faster and came out with a win.

I learned this:

  • Be ready to defend your position always.  A great defense against adversity is an utmost priority.
    • Consider this: If you need to shed a few pounds, defend yourself from temptation by not letting the cookies get near your mouth!
  • Good offense begins with a great plan of attack. Make your plan and work hard to score a goal today.
    • And: If you don’t shoot the ball at the goal, you’ll never score! Keep shooting all day toward your goal.
  • Patience always is on the side of the well prepared.  Are you well prepared?

Live and learn: then take action. Massive action!
