All About Change: Part #1

We’ve had some people inquire about how to look at change. We created this 5 part series on change and each day we’ll take you through a part of the “Change Process”.

Today, let’s look at the emotions of change.

Change creates loss. When we change, we tend to lose something. That loss triggers emotions that we need to deal with. We must make sure that we understand this so we can move on.

Here are some ideas that you can use to combat the emotion and get past the initial mourning period:

  1. Take a moment and just mourn. But for just a moment.
  2. Make sure that your goals are strong and you can continue with them.
  3. Get rid of the “little voices” inside and outside of you that are condemning the change.
  4. Know what you’ll gain by changing.
  5. Decide that this is the best thing for you and move on to your tasks.

Don’t get stuck thinking about the past. Focus on your future; the things you can control! Break some of those old habits and establish some new ones. Work on strengthening your relationships.

Remember, if you are going to win, you’ll need to play quarterback.
